Can someone please explain to me why a lot of the models that Alain Gracia, and others gave to the group free of cost, are now turning up on the Cornucopia site for sale. Also, a lot of the Taschen models that were bought, now have to be bought at that site if you wish to use them in Vue 7 Pioneer? I accept the fact that they have every right to do what they want, but to my way of thinking it is a bit ingenuous! All this does is frustrate those willing to try the FREE download. The problem is you still have to buy modules when it is no longer in beta!
I find all this very frustrating!

the OWNER can Always change his mind and start asking money for them ..
So that might be the case OR the OWNER sold it to them so they can sell it..
Because it was free once does not say it free always...

and ... NOTHING is realy free anyway ...

Well Joe, I think Alain handed over his items to e-on (Cornucopia3D) as a starting stock when the store there started. They are retextured so there is an additional value to them.

Vanishing Point got obviously the rights on the Taschen items and sells them now at Cpornucopia3D. What he does is to convert the models to Vue and sell them as vob files at Cornucopia3D and here at Renderosity. And probably at other places too.

Thanks Walther, I knew that someone in the know would provide the required answer. I can now stop the griping of a frustrated old man. Vue 7 beta is giving me more grey hairs! Once again , thanks for your relevant help!

I am not a nose picker Walther : -)) The finger still aches but I am getting accustomed to being a nine functional fingers old man! I have been trying to buy Vue 7 but they do not accept Am Ex so I guess I will have to send them a postal order.. They should have a method like Western Union or something like that. i need the address to send it to.

No nose picker? Okay, I will believe that too. :)))

In your case, I would go to the e-on registered user forum and use the button "contact sales rep" there (I think you see it when you read a thread - yes it does, I just checked).

I am sure, they can help you to spend some money!

I have to chime in here - I came across a whole bunch of Mr. Gracia's free models in someone's gallery or tutorial a while back and thought, what fantastic objects!  And, Oh Boy, they are free!  Well, after doing some digging, and as you can imagine, I discovered, too, that they are no longer free and for sale at Cornucopia. 

Since the ones for sale seem to be different than the original, free ones, I am wondering if Mr. Gracia could be called (begged) upon to make the original ones available again?!  Sort of like a promotional taste of the Cornucopia models - a "try these and you will surely want to buy the others" promotion.

Just a thought.....who knows, Mr. Gracia might be peaking in - one can always hope, eh?!

I don't really think that would work as a promotional ploy, expept for maybe a few brand new Vue users who aren't savvy with retexturing.

I'm lucky to have downloaded most of Alains models a long time ago when they were free and have retextured them myself, negating the need to purchase those from Corn.  I think that could be said of most Vue users.

He used to have his own website but that disappeared a long time ago though I know he's still around Renderosity as he commented on one of my images using his houses last year
