Subject: OT - finally got my new 'puter but have problems with Avast

I got my new computer with Vista 64 bit. 👍
Figured I start with installing Avast (free edition). Got a BSD! What a fabulous start!
Thought I read at their site it would work with 64 bit. But now I'm not so sure.

Anyone know?

My understanding is that a 64 bit OS will run 32 bit applications , but you also need to cope with Vista security.  There were also some issues with running 32 bit plugins from a 64 bit application.

You should check the administration tools event log and see if theres any info about what broke. If vista has them of course .

**It works fine now. I turned of Vistas own virus app and firewall (I have firewall in the router).
