Subject: A question about figure geometry switching and JP's

The project I am working on is converting an old BVH Princess of the Elves package for V2 to TY2. All of the elements converted nicely with the exception of the scabbards. I tried WW and XD and neither gave satisfactory results so I managed to convert manually. Here is what I'm attempting to do: Load the empty scabbards and add what ever sword into the scabbard I select. After reading a thread about figure geometry switching I got the sword combinations to work. The problem I have is how do I keep the original JP's? I load a sword then check the rotations and the straps no longer stay attached to the scabbard. Since this the first time I'm attempting this procedure I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but what. any help would be appreciated.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

It may have to do with the welding. The sword+scabbard geometry probably has different vertex numbers for the vertices that should connect to the straps, which could mess up the weld statements.

If you want to be able to load a variety of swords into those scabbards, you're probably better off with parented props.

I was thinking about the welding but not sure where to put the statement. The parented prop was one of the first things I contemplated until I started thinking how they may affect the mat files. This outfilt has a whole bunch of them. Thanks for geting me thinking again.

I know the outfit, I have it myself. I must admit that I didn't consider the MAT poses - and editing all those MAT poses to include the prop is no joy!
On the other hand, if you change them into P6 material collections, those will work on the prop too.

Well, since I'm still using PPP as my main app the mat collection really isn't a viable option. I know, I should start using P7 which I have but my PPP is like an old comfortable pair of shoes. I will be out of town for a couple of days so if I don't responde that's why.

Hehehe, making good progress now. I have the right scabbard doing exactly what I want, load and unload and it keeps the JPs. Still have to set the proper JPs on the left scabbard. Again, thank you for making me think and not giving up on this.
