Subject: Morph Removal

Hello all, A morph question if I may. Am I saving any memory or even doing anything helpful by deleting unused or unneeded morphs in my character or clothes (via Morph Manager). I think I have read that it saves on resources but I can't find the info I thought I saw. The reason I ask is it does get a bit tedious at times on some items so before I continue on thought I'd get some opinions. Typically I delete from my Character (say A3 for example) then delete the same from any clothing items. I've yet to find a quick way to do this and unless I'm missing something in MM its a one at a time deal. And thats OK, it does get the job done. I don't use a lot of morphs and this does, in some places, save a bit of scrolling thru stuff I don't ever use. I don't really use all those PBMCCs and the like and know which ones to save like PBMCC_02 for the Aiko 19 package. Or PBMCC_01 for P3D Base (V3) or PBMCC_30 for Kielo 1 and 2 (V3). Many thanx to any who reply, my ISP is on the fritz today and I'll get back when possible. Maybe the email will be working by this evening, who knows. Thanx again for your time.

The RemoveMorphs script in my freestuff section here does exactly what you want. It performs the morph removal "in-place", you don't have to leave Poser.
The script analyzes all morphs in the currently selected figure, and strips out the delta information for each and every morph that has an effective value of zero.
It will leave the morph CHANNELS in place - but those don't take up all that much memory. It's the deltas you want to get rid of, and that's what this script does.
If the figure is Aiko 3, Steph Petite, or Victoria 3, the script makes use of an exclusion list - morphs that should not be stripped. I've included all expression morphs in the lists.
Creating your own lists for other figures is simple, see the readme.

Requires Poser 5 or higher.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Dimension3D has a script that spawns a Full Body Morph with the option of deleting other morphs, D3D also has a script that turns a posed figure into a prop without any morphs or even posable joints, you can open this prop in the Set-up Room and then go right back to the Pose Room with it as a non posing prop figure that still takes MATposes. Also, lesbently described in a thread here how to create a REMpose that removes all but selected morphs (JCMs, expressions, etc.) from a figure.

Something to watch out for when working with this technique: figures that make use of bone scaling to obtain a specific shape, e.g. all the DAZ gen 4 figures, may not work correctly when you spawn a morph target using these methods.

Thanx all for your replies.

SVDL, I'll look into your script in a sec. Sounds pretty neat.

Momodot, thanx, thats a neat tip also. D3D does some good stuff.

PJZ99, yes, my early attempts did mangle V4 beyond belief, it took a while to figure "her" out but I finally got it after much trial and error and I just left "leg scaling" in.

So I guess I'm on the right track??? With P5 and gen3 girls I did seem to be able to get a lil bit more into/out of a render and firefly did appreciate it. Just didn't know if with P6 and V4 it was worth the effort. I should've asked sometime ago. Better late than never.

Well a Comcast van is still on my street, don't know if this is a good sign or not, we'll see.
Wish me/them luck, hahaha. Thanx again all........
