Subject: Import vector graphics - how to ?

sirenia ( ) posted Tue, 03 February 2009 at 7:53 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 8:31 AM

Hi,

I know in the text editor i can import "ai" files and "eps" files from Adobe Illustrator.

When in Illustrator i safe my work as a .ai file (Illustrator cs3) and next i import this file in the text editor in Vue (Vue7inf), all i see is a questionmark in the text editor

What am i doing wrong here ?

Wim

As most 3D applications Vue only imports Illustrator 3.1 files. So you have to export your file as such from Illustrator first and then try it.

In CorelDraw I can save as "eps (TIFF)" and as "ai v1.1". This two formats do work in Vue7 Infinite for me.

Thanks guys,

I tried with an Illustrator 3.1 and also .eps file but still it will not work. I checked also in Vue6inf but it gives me the same results :-(

I remember there was a tutorial somewhere on the net but i cannot find it anymore...

 Wim,

Try downloading the free program Inkscape, importing your file(s), then exporting as eps from there. It worked for me.

Wim, how does your eps look like? I just tried a simple rectangle - only outline -  from Illustrator CS3 and that worked perfectly.

Aha it works !!

The first time i saved as an .eps i made a mistake somehow. Today i tried this again and there it was :-) This time i made sure that i selected the Illustrator 3 format ;-)

One thing i notice that it does not liked to be beveled (i guess due to geometry) but extrusion works just fine.

Thank you all for helping :-)

ps: has Inkscape different features than Illustrator ? I think i will have to install x11 but i will try it out for sure.
