Subject: Frustrated with clothified hair figure

shareone ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2009 at 3:21 AM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 2:57 PM

I'm still trying to get a descent looking dynamic hair. I clothified this hair and animated it with the default cloth room settings. You can see the first 30 seconds here: http://rapidshare.com/files/195027163/Flying_hair.avi

I can't fix this helicopter effect. I tried to play with the fold and shear resistance, with the dump settings, but no luck, when the figure start to move its head the hair starts to fly.
Is there a way to change the gravity force or something...?

Dynamic hair has to be animated in the Hair-room and not the cloth-room: dynamic hair and dynamic cloth are two completely different things. But  Ican understand that the label dynamic is confusing. In my opinion dynamic hair is the most difficult item in poser to create and handled but on the other hand it gives the most realistic reslults.

Best regards,

Bopper.

Let 's keep the idea of clothifying transmapped hair.In theory it should work but I havn't got useful results yet.

*I had that in mind when I read the post, but after seeing the animations, I wasn't sure it was.
I agree it's an interesting idea, but it won't beat dynamic hair in reality.

Dynamic hair gives great results, but the calculation times can be astronomic.

kirwyn has found a very nice solution: using a very low poly proxy. Check kirwyn's freestuff for a free hair proxy for V4 and Jessi, and try them out  The hair calculates at 1 frame per 2 seconds, sometimes even faster!

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

I tried Kirwyn's hair last week, although I had it for months. I''m rather pleased with the results, you get beautiful renders, and the calculationtime is indeed very short. Great job.

Best regards,

Bopper.
