Sleuthing Software Can Reassemble Deleted Photos

They claim that images can be recovered from deleted files on your HDD or flash memory.

The software (Adroit Photo Recovery) inspects all unused disk space to reassemble a deleted image.

I used something very similar last summer when I accidentally deleted all 3 or 4 hundred photos from a family day out in Nimes... and as I was the designated holiday photographer we were kind of bummed, especially as there were some really nice ones in there.... a day's worth of on/off research led us to download (and pay for) a program which was able to recover everything from the day, and more from up to several days earlier (all the ones safely uploaded to the laptop already). To be honest I was pretty blown away, I thought my dad was winding me up when he said we could recover them somehow, but I was very happy to stand corrected! my gallery would be 6 images short of how it stands now without that software...

One thing to remember though is if that sector or space on you HD or memory card gets written over or allocated with new data ...recovery might not be possible. 

A co-worker of mine just came back from a tour of Egypt. While there he accidently formatted his SD memory card. He had taken about 400 pictures when he formatted it.

I told him about the Adroit Photo Recovery program and he was able to recover all, but about 20 of his photos that he had taken other pictures over. He is so happy about how it worked that he bought me lunch for telling him about the program..
