This prop was a perfectly fine created Poser object. I'm always mystified why somebody would spend so much time making something like this and then use a thumbnail that makes it very hard to tell what it is. 

Can anybody guess what this object is?

It looks suspiciously like an old typewriter. 😄

no. on second look i would copy geeps guess... even if my grammar didnt led me to typewriter but to typing machine... damn german ;)

instantly recog. as wgprops/oldTypewriter.pp2.  the actual corrected thumbnail has more detail, in addition to the word "oldTypewriter" directly under it, thus obviating any confusion IMVHO.

 OK so some recognized it. I would never ever have guess what it was.

And Gagnonrich has a point: Why spend time making a great product and then not bother with a thumbnail? Same in the Freebies here. Lots of probably nice things.. but the ones without a thumbnail has NO chance of ever getting downloaded by me.. Seems odd to take the time to make and upload a freebie.. and then not take the extra minute or two to actually render it so people can see what it is. I'm not saying everybudt should de elaborate thumbs with postwork and text and all.. but a simple render so you can SEE what it is...

But it's free. And saying anything negative about the Freebie creators is frowned upon, I know.

Yeah I second TrekkieGrrrl, no thumbnail, no download for me, unless its a script or something. It's a shame because I know there's quite a few great items out there without a proper preview.

Well since the chorus has started, sign me up for the No Thumb, No Way.....since I just left the free section, and darn if I feel almost the same with "Site Registration Required". But thats just me.

If its a freebie and the description is something I might have a use for I will cheerfully download it and have a look . Only takes a couple seconds to pop it into objview and see how it looks . My only freebie concerns are with exe files being used. Some people seem to have picked up the Daz style of using an exe installer rather than a zip.  Sorry freestuff providers , an exe file from n unknown site is not gonna get on my system.  I will also NOT use a compiled python script unless its from a very short list of providers.

I'm surprised many people recognized it. I spent 5 seconds to create this replacement thumbnail so that it's easier to find visually in my runtime.

So .pyc files can be dangerous in the same way as an infected .exe? gulp I've never given THOSE a second though, not as something potentially dangerous at least. And I like python scripts. I haven't the foggiest idea how to write them, but I like playing with them and see cool things happen L

It's just that you can't look at what the script is doing (assuming you know enough python to spot anything dodgy).

The only time your likely to get PYC files in a paid for product, as it's not worth the trouble for freebies.
