Subject: Delete frames? How?

Replicant ( ) posted Sat, 28 March 2009 at 8:55 AM · edited Tue, 11 February 2025 at 3:47 AM

I'm sure I'm missing something simple here but I cant find how to delete the first 29 frames of a 30 frame animation. Deleting after frame one is easy but how do I delete before 30? I've never even looked at the poser animation tools until now. I've created a couple of sequences in the cloth room and have my outfits draped exactly as I want but all I need is the last frame of each sequence.
If I import a second figure into my scene the cloth on the second loses its draping. All I need to do is keep the posed figure from the last frame and make that the first frame of my new scene. I reckon if I do this for both my figures I should be able to import one into the other with pose and draped cloth intact on both.
Can someone please explain how to delete the un-needed frames, or alternatively how do I copy my posed figure and draped cloth from frame 30 to frame 1?
Help please. The forehead shaped dent in my desk is getting deeper.

Use the Animation Palette.

Click and drag around everything in Frame 30 ... then drag it to Frame 1.
=or=
Go to Frame 30 ... Use the menu to "Edit" >>> "Memorize" >>> "All"
Go to Frame 1 ... Use the menu to "Edit" >>> "Restore" >>> "All"

If you want to use the last (or some other) frame from a cloth sim, you can either 1) spawn a morph or 2) export the item as a prop at the desired frame.

For 1) you'll need to save the item back to the library so that the morph is saved.
This avoids the need to save the material setup seperately.

For 2) you'll want to save a material collection so that you can apply it to the new OBJ when you import it.

Unfortunately Doc's Memorise and Restore method didn't work. The cloth didn't remember its shape. Exporting the cloth as a prop has worked just fine though. I can get on with setting up the render now. It'd have been a lot easier just deleting frames 1-29 though. Something for the wishlist for Poser8 I guess. Thanks for the help guys.

Hey Rep,

Sorry 'bout that. My bad.
(I didn't try it first - It doesn't work because the deformed cloth is a "Dynamic" and not a true morph.

However -

FYI - If you use the [menu] "Object" >>> "Spawn Morph Target" at Frame 30 ...
... then you can set the morph to 1.000 in Frame 1 and it appears to work ok.

what I do is run cloth sims end to end by setting the start end frames and then often my final pic is around frame 100
you dont need to use frame 1 for the final render , just remember what you are doing with it .

export and import as a prop works fine .
