Subject: BIP motion files

Do these work in Poser, specifically Poser 7, but I have every other version of Poser as well?  Downloaded some from www.freemotionfiles.blogspot.com/ but no read me's and so far none of 3 or 4 characters moves, i.e., V4, V3, M2, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I think I got my answer - which would be "no", LOL.  Apparently a 3DMax file!  Unless someone knows otherwise.

I did a search for a BIP file converter, but I couldn't find one. I did find that the original program (as far as I can tell) that used the file format was Discreet Character Studio, which apparently Autodesk took over and melded into 3D Max. As hyper-protective of their file formats as Autodesk is, I'd guess that's a dead end.

I don't know much about Max, but it might be worth a shot to download the free demo of 3D Max, and see if it has an export option for an imported Biped file. I don't know what the demo limitations are and what the export options are, if any, but that seems to be the only option.

I dunno for sure but it might be an idea to look see if Blender can convert it, I know it can load AutoCAD files (DXF) and convert them... more or less, which was handy when nothing else could do that.

as far as I know BIP files are character studio only files, and they won't work on anything else.

Hey, thanks a lot all!

I'm probably not going to pursue this much further.  Had some free time and was roaming about and encountered freemotionfiles.blogspot.com and then DL'd some files.  Did get some BVH that work though.

At any rate, they'll likely all wind up in my ever burgeoning pile of Poser related stuff that never or seldom get used.

Thanks again.

Miss Nancy, I just love all your avatars.  Finally going to have to start doing some myself.  Used to be it seems avatars were the exception - now the rule.  Can't imagine I could be half as clever as you've been, though I'm sure I have some stuff laying around to use.

You inspire!
