Subject: batch processing

Hi, just wondering if its possible to batch process files to the save for web specs?
I have a couple thousand image frames that need to be dropped in file size.
I know how to automate shrinking the jpg's by folder but the file size is still too large after the reduction. thanks

Not sure if I understand your problem, but something tells me you should decrease the image size first (cmd+i) and lower the dpi resolution while recording the action. When you then save for web you can also lower the file size by selecting medium or low jpeg quality. Those settings will than be repeated when you batch the lot...

Hope this helps...

it's probably not possible what I want to do. but when you go under the file tab half way down is an option for save for web and devices. which yeilds a pretty good copy at a lower file size.

what I want to do is somehow automatically import each picture into photoshop and save the photo back out under the save for web settings.

under the file tab there is a script setting with image processing. this option will import an entire folder and process the pictures to what you select be it a re-size  or whatever you have in your actions.  however there is no save for web option  when using this script.

You can record your own actions, save for web and then batch a folder to save all images automatically for web, really.

ok, I know with the actions tab I hit record and take my steps to do what I want it to,
do you know how I would go about setting my idea up?
With the actions it would see me open a folder and chose 1 picture import it then save it for the web as a certain name.
It wont know how to grab the next picture in line and do the same thing to that with out me actually babysitting and selecting the pictures for it. and importing 1000 pics into PS would be too much for it to handle.

thanks

 have you tried...

File/Automate/Batch

in the Photoshop Menu ?

you can run a "batch" on any action you create. you'll just have to experiment with the opening, saving and closing of the files when you set up the batch

i've done exactly what you wanted on a catalog full of "TIF" book-covers the were needed to be"JPG"d and resized for an e-commerce  site.
