Subject: Please help with bald cat!

Can anyone point me at a tutorial or product that would help in getting real fur onto my Millennium Cat? We've tried growing dynamic hair onto it, but it comes out too coarse - would be great for a wolf!

We've tried displacement, but can't seem to get a fluffy result, it looks like a soft toy or a statue mostly.

At the moment, the only idea we're left with is to postwork the fur on.

We're using Poser 6 or 7, so any ideas that might work in those would be much appreciated!

Save yourself the heartache of doing it for yourself, see attached link

Lol, thanks! That looks very good... but if I bought it, I'd just take it to bits to see how they did it - I'd really rather do it myself if anyone can point me in the right direction to getting some hints how to.

There's this tutorial that was for P5 by DrGeep, it probably pertains to the later versions too.

Also, LittleDragon has a freebie tail that uses dynamic hair for fur, it may be worth having a look at that and seeing how that is set up and trying to apply it to a full cat.

Look for posts/threads from Tiny (both here and at DAZ).
Also see attached link for a tutorial by Tiny.

Yay! thanks very much! A lot to look at - excellent! I even found a post where somebody asked exactly the same question I have... hm, maybe I should search before I post... :D

Getting the dynamic hair styled just right can take quite a bit of detailed work.
Bump and displacement maps will not give you good results for up close or mid distance renders.

If your goal is to learn it, go for it! However, if your goal is to get a nicely furred kitty into a render in a limited amount of time, Tiny's furred cats is a great product!!!

Postwork is also an option, but again, nicely painted fur can take some time :)
