Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Hello,
Just my 2cents. I upgrade my system awhile back and a salesman talked me into the Phenom x3 8600 CPU. Mistake! A lot of software doesn't like the triple core. Poser is okay with it but Vue6 and Vue 7 would crash constantly. For about $40 or so more, you could get a good AMD quad core CPU. I got an AMD quad core Phenom II X4 940 3.0gHz from NewEgg for about $200 and it runs like a champ.
Anyways, like I said, just my opinion.
No good deed goes unpunished ...
My only advice to you is stay far and away from DELL!!!!

heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi

I posted this in hardware, but thought I might try here also amongst my fellow Poser users :)
I am using Poser 6 / win for the record
Hi everyone. well some time back I said this first of may I plan to move up. Well that day is now here :) However I am seeing lots of offers..and a I am a bit mystified now.
Right now as we speak, I am still using my old socket A, AMD 2500+ dual core, with 2 gig DDR ram, so just about anything is a move up. The core speed of this one is app. 1700.
Anyhow these are the ones I am debating per cpu.
1:AMD LE 1300 2.3 gig.. I think this is single core though
2: AMD x2 5200 dual, 2.7 gig
3: Phenom x3 8600, I guess this is called triple core
I looked at some reviews of these but that seems benchmarks are based on gaming, not 3d rendering. I primarily use Poser, Daz Studio, and CyberMotion 3D. I am not even certain any of these even take advantage of dual core, let alone triple. I also notice, for the price, even speed claims do not always hold true for results.
Any how each of thes will be using 4 GB DDR2 ram am2 class mobo, some have nvidia gforce 7055 I think, others have ati rv610, or radeon3000 video. So has any of you used these, or would suggest the better for the $$$. Anyhow it's payday now :)
Thanks
