Hey I did that! I can't believe it, but I did that! When I say 'did', I don't actually mean 'did'! The model is Dr Morpheen by Syyd Raven, and it's his texture too. But nothing like this has ever been rendered on my machine. By 'like this', I mean this good! it is good isn't it? The actual rendering was pretty mediocre, even by my standards, but I touched up the eyes in Photoshop to get a litle glow and then, just messing around, something happened! I duplicated the layer and used autocontrast and autolevels on the top layer. It's something I often do, usually the result really bring out the details of the initial texture used for rendering but at the expense of some of the subtlety. Using the opacity of the top layer you can fade the effect into the original layer underneath to get a nice balance. This time I set the top layer's mode to hard light and hey presto. I had to stare long and hard to believe it was that good. It looks even better cropped tight around the face but I left it for you to see complete. Ok so the eybrows suck and there's a little too much violet in the iris, even for this mean character, but I'm the happiest renderer on the planet tonight. Anybody got any techniques for eyebrows? PS. Big thanks to Syyd Raven, your model is a real bute.
