Subject: Poseable string of beads?

shante ( ) posted Wed, 13 May 2009 at 4:37 PM · edited Wed, 21 August 2024 at 5:16 AM

Trying to make a bead curtain prop. Anyone know of one or at the very least a poseable string of beads I might be able to incorporate in making the curtain?

Attached Link: Bead string figure

Here's a string of beads in figure form.  It's about the right height for a door. The ZIP is packaged in the usual way... extract into your Poser runtime, and you'll have a subfolder called Beads under Characters, with the Beads figure in this folder.

You can pose it by grabbing various beads with the mouse and moving them
aside.

Put about 10 of these into the scene, move each horizontally to a well-spaced
location, and you'll have a curtain.

One more note: the "topstring" is the starting point for the figure, roughly
equivalent to Hip on a normal figure.

Hi Ocham!
Thanks. I can't see the bead size in relation to the string length is there a render in the zip file with the readme I can get some idea from?

Do you want to change the bead size?

I don't know. I can't see the item. That was why I was looking for a render to see what it looked like. What I was looking for was a string of beads that would look like a string of pearls....where the beads are smallish and close together. Is that what this item is?

Load it up in Poser, and then you'll be able to play around with it.

If you prefer bigger beads, or multi-colored beads, I can make
an alternate version easily.

I could do that but I don't have Poser running on this computer right now. It will have to wait until my other box finishes rendering. I will try and install it tomorrow and see what it is.
But for your info, the size of the beads would have to look great around a Vicki2 neck as a set of formal pearls....I guess that would be a good comparison of what I am looking for and still be long enough to do the curtain thing if that helps.  :)
Thanks Again!

Okay, I'll watch this topic.  If you want a change after trying it out, I'll be happy
to do it.

Here's a curtain made from 8 copies of the bead-string figure.  I wiggled them a bit with the mouse to make them look less regular........

Hi Ockham

Been busy trying to get some of these commissions out of the way to try this for my next project and seeing the sample render I have to say that though a nice piece and certainly one I can use later my needs right now are more along the lines of a string of pearls sized out proportionately to say V2 that could pass for a pearl necklace but as long as what you have here. Beads close together and from one end to the other without gaps.
If that is possible I would be wetting my pants with gratitude!  :)

From lack of response, I assume the additional request wasn't doable!?  :)
