Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
When you load a figure you should remove the Inverse Kinematics from both the arms and legs before you do anything with the figure. The problem you are having with posing is because the Inverse Kinematics is still turned on.
"It is good to see ourselves as

able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
Interestingly, I rarely have problems with IK - I always leave it on unless I have some pressing reason to turn it off

I usually leave it on until I'm ready to render, and I notice the ankles are twisted into a hideous mess.
Seriously, sometimes there is no problem leaving it on, and other times it is a mess. I don't know why.

Because You are all rendering still images and using static poses

The very first thing I do when I load a figure is to turn off IK. For those figures I use a lot, I resave them with IK off, then in a text editor I edit the names of the leg IK chains to "Right Leg" and "Left Leg". Next time I load them IK is off.
Poser automatically applies IK to any chain named "RightLeg" or "LightLeg", putting a space before " Leg" stops Poser doing this, but the figure needs to be saved with IK off first.
Actually, I DO have ALL the Inverse Kinematics OFF.
I just find checking, then unchecking the left leg in the IK, resets the fingers. Thought it was strange and I'd pass this on.

You know when the fingers act like something Mr. Fantastic or Plastic Man would be able to do when you load a pose and then rotate or move the model.
.
Quick fix: From the menu FIGURE>Use Inverse Kinematics> and pick one of the options there.
The undo it.
The fingers snap back into there new proper positions.
Discovered by accident.
Any other ways of undoing this?
