Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 09 3:34 pm)
I don't think it's saving an "MPEG video file".
By the sounds of it you have your poser preferences set to save the External Binary Morph Targets separately from the actual .pz3 file, which would account for the fact that your .pz3 file is so much smaller than the .pmd file that is also being saved.
Go into Poser and click on the "Edit" in the tool bar, then "General Preferences". Under the "Misc" tab, uncheck "Use External Binary Morph Targets".
Then save your preferences.
Close Poser and then relaunch the application.
Reopen the .pz3 file again. Then resave it.

Eheheh, that's funny. You concluded PMD files were MPEGs? Why?
PMD files are also Adobe Page Maker Documents.
PMD files are also Payroll Mate Documents.
PMD files are also Pegasus Mail Dictionary files.
PMD files are also Plan Maker (spreadsheet) Documents.
PMD files are also Phone MIDI files for custom ring tones.
chuckle
Your PMD files are Poser Morph Data files.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Attached Link: Why is Poser saving still-image scenes as MPEG videos?
This is freaky, the exact same problem over at DAZ 8^)Quote - I don't think it's saving an "MPEG video file".

Thanks, I did what you suggested.
I'm using a 9 year old MAC and it's identifying the files as mpeg video files, which I guess is completely wrong.

I've been making still images in Poser and haven't been making animations.
After I put together a scene in Poser, I save it, and it is saved as a .pz3 file - but it's also being automatically saved as a MPEG video file with the extension .pmd.
Is this normal? Does it happen all the time? Why is the scene being saved as a video file? What's in the video file? Is the existence of the mpeg video file necessary for the .pz3 file? What would happen if I deleated the .pmd video file?
These MPEG files are taking up a LOT of memory ! A .pz3 file takes up 2.2 MB but the MPEG video file for it takes up 40.4 MB.
Thanks!
