Okay, lemme get this outta the way:
www.lfragaphoto.com/renderosity

Here's a bank of images I'll be adding to periodically - I took them all, and I am giving all copyrights away for their use - but understand that if you use any of these images in your portfolio, you'll have to let them know what you did to an original taken by someone else. If you get hired it'll be obvious what you can and cannot do, so save yourself some embarrassment ahead of time.

Anyway, in another thread some of us were talking about having photomanipulation threads, tuts, examples, contests (no prizes, just loose voting and bragging rights). This is for practicing and learning purposes - how was this done, what tools did you use, did you find you needed a specific order to achieve this - those kinds of things.

This is for experimentation and fun.

In general, my thoughts were to maybe declare the contest/session to be based on "this and this and this" photo in the collection - and do with it what you will. Either stick to the photographs, add your own, or paint over them, blend them together, add 3D or 2D elements (or both) - the sky's the limit, and we just check out what we've all done at the end.

The idea being loose and fun - again, this is for experimentation, so if it doesn't go right for you, you'll know what you can do better next time, or just try it again after some feedback - get it?

What say you good folks at Rendo? Any ideas on how you'd like to use them? If you've personally taken images and want to add, lemme know and we'll work out how to get them to me, or you can post a link to your personal site as well.

Thoughts? Ideas? Directions?

-Lew ;-)

Excellent and a very good initative! Thanks to Lew (thundering1) we have a pool of usable photos to do with what we want. And the interest in post-work on 3D modells is hot! (Whether it is painterly or photo-realism with objects showing normal wear and tear and uneveness).

I choose to start the thread with this picture 'Forest-guardess' Lew's orginal you can see by clicking the link!

It is rather quite here! :) Another good idea that come to nothing? Anyway I posted the example to my gallery. If you want to see the comments the link is above.

Nice!

I have an image crunch right now with over 150 jewelry and watch images. I might be able to play at night this weekend (right now I'm just waking up and I read news and respond to things to get my eyes focused - had head surgery and my left balance nerve is now cut, so it takes a while to get going well).

It hasn't gone away - just haven't had time to play with them yet.
