Last week I got a copy of 3DArtist and I was reading the feature article by Mark Bremmer; “Rise of the Machines” where he portrays a short synopsis on CG character development in the rather recent history of film and CGI integration.  The article attracted my interest in particular to CG crowd animation. Most of us have been aware that many fairly recent films have incorporated the use of software to address the problem of creating epic animated crowds but never knew what that software was, well, at least I didn’t. So here for those like me that didn’t know the software used check out the attached link above and view the power of Massive CGI in this Flash movie.

Obviously the software is geared towards the professional and those with the financial resources to afford it. It costs $17,999.00 for Massive Prime plus $3,999.00 per year of upgrades and support. Or you can go for the streamlined Massive Jet for $5,999.00 plus $1,299.00 per year of upgrades and support, your choice.

I knew the film makers used programs for crowds simulations but did not know about Massive.
