Subject: CS4 Layer Palette Problem

OK, I finally left the dark ages (Photoshop 7) for CS4. But can someone tell me one thing? Is there a way to keep the Layer palette open all the time? I hate this thing were every time I turn around it's closed again. I know I can click on it again, But having the layers open in front of me all the time helps me keep track of what I'm doing.

I'm still on Photoshop CS. I'm thinking it might have to do with your Workspace. The default is Essentials in CS4. You might have to create your own Workspace. I know Workspace has options to show/hide menu items but it also deals with the layout and panel options as well.

Hrmm... I too just upgraded from Photoshop 7 to CS4. What else will I be confuzzled by? LOL!

That's correct, you have to create your own space (although the layer palette should be visible by default in the essentials workspace). Alternatively open the layer palette and detach it from the right sidebar (drag it to the centre of your canvas) and then slot it back where you want it to be (you will see a blue line every time the palette can snap)).
