Subject: Rendering insect wings and insect wing textures

johnr1969 ( ) posted Wed, 12 August 2009 at 9:15 AM · edited Thu, 25 July 2024 at 10:07 PM

OK I'm rendering a dragonfly in Vue Infinite - and using Vue Infinite materials editor to change the things around. Any suggestions on how to achieve some nice insect-like effects. I would like to get transparent and irridescent wings and retain the vein-lattice effect.

Any idea where I can get good insect-wing textures?

Any ideas about lighting?

any help/suggestions gratefully received.

Best

The power pixie at daz has great dragonfly wings. With the improved mat sttings I included with that update to the pixie, they looked killer!

Iridescence
add new material layer
rainbow texture or map
high specularity
copy bump map of lower material to this one
