Subject: P8 converting morphs from LR Alyson figure to HR Alyson figure - HELP!

3Dream ( ) posted Wed, 12 August 2009 at 4:47 PM · edited Sun, 15 September 2024 at 4:01 AM

Hello

I am sorry for my bad English.

Today I finish a face morph for the low resolution Alyson figure and I don't know how to convert correctly this morphs to the high resolution Alyson figure.

I have tryed to use 3DS (mesh smooth), UVmapper (mesh smooth). I even used an old program of clothes morphs creation but in the end, the results are not perfect.

Can someone help me? Does someone know how to convert correctly a morph from the low resolution Alyson figure to the high resolution Alyson figure?

Thank you so much for your attention.

Have you compaired the meshes (I haven't), is the high poly version exactly 4 times the polys? That will key you in on if you can simply smooth or subdivide the mesh.

What program you modeling in? wouldn't it be easier to use the high ploy version to begin with?

Actually it is easier to create morphs in a low res figure, less points to move around means smoother results particularly in the high res, and if you start with the high res there is no way to convert to the low res, Unfortunately even if the high res figure is a sub-d of the low res figure which I assume it is, that still does not mean that you will end up with a successful morph by simply converting the sub-d because each modeler has a different way of converting point order so you would likely need the precise modeler that the originals were converted in. than the next problem is, was the figure split? if it was was it done before or after the high res figure was created I would assume after otherwise their would be gaps in the mesh, that causes more possible vertex order changes particularly if it was poser that did the splitting.

You could contact SM, but i fear there is no easy solution.
What is wrong with using the low poly figures anyway.
They are good, if not better than the high zillion poly monsters.
nice face BTW

Thank you so much for all your words!

I really would like to know how to convert correctly a morph from the low resolution Alyson figure to the high resolution Alyson figure.

Vilters: I believe he wants to create morphs for both Alyson HR and Alyson LR, without having to duplicate his efforts.

3Dream: (edited - apparently you would need to own both Max and Softimage to use GATOR in Max). You should look at this thread. I would recommend in the future to create your morphs on the HR version and transfer them to the LR version (whether you're using GATOR or TDMT). GATOR also exists in the Softimage Mod Tool, if you want to try it without buying Softimage. Of course, if you want to use it commercially, you'd still have to buy Softimage.

Hello!

Thank you so much for your help!!!

I decided to make the morphs in high resolution (it's not tottally equal to the low res version, but I am satisfied).

Thank you very much!!!
Have a excellent day!

Nice work

Anyone know how many polys hires Alyson has?

It's not the tool used, it's the tool using it

I just checked. Around 14,500 for low-res and around 58,000 for high-res.

Nice morph, by the way! And I agree that working on the low-res version when making morphs is much preferable.

I just did a little test on Alyson's face and was able to convert a low-res morph to the high-res mesh by subdividing the mesh and then correcting the vertex order. I'll try a full-body morph next to see if this works without problems for all parts of the mesh.

Thank you so much for participating in this thread !!!!!!

I also made it !!!!!!!!
I also found a way (very complicated) to convert my low res morph to the high res morph!!!! GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some images of my morph in Alyson.

Yeah, OK, nice, but How do you do it?
A step by step guide would be beneficial to other users.
