Subject: "normal" nightgown?

Believable3D ( ) posted Sat, 29 August 2009 at 5:09 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 2:25 AM

Is anyone aware of a "normal" nightgown for V4? I want to do a promo render of my middle aged character with Curler Hair. I even Googled and haven't come up with what I want.

I'm using all conforming clothing right now, but a dynamic nightie might be okay (I have to learn sometime). However, the DAZ Century dynamic is DAZ only and isn't quite what I have in mind. I'm also aware of Sweet Goodnight for MFD, but frankly that looks closer to a conventional dress than a nightgown to me. PJZ also has a freebie he's called a "nightgown," but it's really lingerie. I.e. want something flannel/cottonish, not silky lingerie.

Something like this: earthhopenetwork.net/gaiam_Organic_Cotton_embroidered_nightgown.jpg or even less fancy would be fine.

A decent bathrobe would also work, or a combo along these lines:

Jen: Thanks, I guess I searched the marketplace exclusively, so didn't see the freestuff. A couple of those look usable.

PJZ: Thanks a bunch. I referenced your freebie above. Very nice, but I'm not looking for lingerie per se.

You have a PoserWorld sub, right? Steve made some nightgowns for the girls a while back. With a little luck (and Wardrobe Wizard) you should be able to convert them. Unless he has already done so himself... I have a vague feeling I've seen some

Otherwise.. if Dynamic is ok I could make you one in a moment

Thanks, TrekkieGrrrl. I was just looking at PoserWorld, but I only checked the V4 list. Will have to see what's available for the others.

Jen's link was for dynamic freebies (although only one is for V4), so I should be already set if I go that route (though I'll have to see... I'm looking for something more "homey" than revealing). Thanks for the generous offer though.

I guess you hit the nail on the head, Trekkie Grrrl... there's a pretty nice dressing gown for V3 at Poser World. I'll probably want to do something about the textures, though.

Gosh, I hope they're not that uptight. My understanding is that mentioning your product is okay as long as it's relevant to the thread. Which I think it is.

Heh well.. I had to restrain myself from throwing in a pic of it.. I thought that would have been a bit much.. especially since Believable3D was loooking for a nightgown and not a pyjamas.

But I try not to break the rules here :) I really do.

If it's something that would be suitable for someone middle-aged, I'd be interested in seeing a pic, at least. Even if it doesn't get used this time, I'll probably be developing more characters in the 35-50 age range.

Well.. it could be used for an older person I guess... but the whole idea of this is that it's ..er.. open... well the shirt is.. so.. probably not really suitable.

But you've got me thinking.. I could make a night dress/night gown and include that in the pack.. so it would be a "good Night" package for V4 :)

It would set me back a few days.. but the final package would be even more useful and thus ought to sell better ^_^

There were some dynamic nightgowns in freestuff, you would have to redo the texture cause the default was almost transparent.

Karanta has a very nice nightgown for V4 which comes in both a dynamic and a conforming version. If you don't like the lace, there are a couple of additional texture sets, and you can also use a silk texture on it. Hongyu's Jersey dress (available for A3, V3, and V4, some are here and some are at DAZ) would make a reasonable short nightgown if you retexture it. A lot of dresses would make reasonable nightgowns if you re-texture them.

(I would just use procedural textures. I'm particularly fond of tabalas sets, IIRC she has a satin set and a silk set that I use pretty often.)

Thanks... I have a bit of an image in my mind with what will fit with the Curler Hair and my character. "Dowdy" would be overstating it, but I don't want "sexy" either. :) I'll do some playing around when I get some time.
