Ugh... something else to get addicted to? :) Another set of shaders to learn? :)
I own Carrara, though I'm sure I'd like the renderer far more in Vue. I was just hoping to find something that worked within Poser.
Thanks for the response though!

Not quite sure what it is you're after, but there are lots of shaders made that can simpulate several different surfaces - also things like grass ect. Ajax made a set way back when Poser 5 was all the rage. I still use those a lot.
I think they're still here in Free Stuff.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Quote - If P8 had a replicator, or surface replicator like Bryce or Carrara, I'd be in heaven. Does that exist, or a plug-in?
Replicators require multiple instancing which poser/firefly don't do. Maybe you could use a modeller to distribute stuff on your surface and use that in poser. Can you export something like this from Car ?
Without instancing though this will need a very beefy system to render.
Hm.. but doesn't Poser do a SORT of instancing.
Ifyou load several of the same prop (with the duplicate) option for instance or just load a properly (one that doens't have imbedded geometry) made prop.
Poser only loads the obj once, and references it several times through the PP2, doesn't it?
And as such, it should be doable with Python. Ockham made a neat script for me once that makes several instances of a hallway load in succession (look at my free Hallway scene here in Free Stuff) - same obj but the PP2s are loaded several times
PhilC also routinely includes his Make Art button which loads nifty things ;)

Yes, Ghonma, you can export from Carrara, after you convert the replicator to meshes.
And TrekkieGrrrl, thanks, that sounds like instancing to me, I suppose. If one could get a script to duplicate the figure or object a certain number of times, randomly scatter it over a surface or within a volume, and allow for random transformations within certain parameters, we'd be all set!
Seems to me if that was possible someone would have done it by now?
Indi.
PhilC's PoserToolBox has an array script for props.
ockham has a script called Bugs'nBeans (freestuff, here http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/details.php?item_id=28314 ) which creates groups particles based on props which can be constrained to a volume.

No shaders to learn, a little curve as in any app...but this proggie is very powerful. Interacts with poser very well. You should at least look into it and give it a second glance.
Addicting...sure! But you have self control, right? You can just push buttons in Vue and come away with something very belivable too.
Comitted to excellence through art.
Thanks Raven, I'll take a look.
DarkEdge... Vue 7 Pro Studio is on sale now for 50% off....

Big ticket still.

A LITTLE curve?
I'm used to Bryce and I thought myself good at learning new apps.. but Vue has left me totally stumped...
I know awesome things can be made in Vue.. but it's so absolutely not a "click a few buttons and turn out something beautiful" application LOL
Or else I'm just stupid. That is a possibility too, I guess...

TG - go look at the tutorials over at Geekatplay.com if you haven't already. Loads of stuff on Vue there

Just thought I'd throw this out there. If P8 had a replicator, or surface replicator like Bryce or Carrara, I'd be in heaven. Does that exist, or a plug-in?
