Subject: Are white teeth possible in poser?

TheMentalDude ( ) posted Sun, 20 September 2009 at 8:10 AM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 1:25 PM

Its been a while since i used poser but i thought i would take a break from using Carrara and go back and give poser a damn good work out :D

The one little niggle i have noticed is that no matter what i do the teeth are never really white, they always look an off white or like jaws teeth, a rather metallic grey.

I have google around and searched on these forums and the only thing i can see is that people are suggesting that there are scripts you can use, they dont say if they are free or not but money being tight i cant afford the outlay.

I have tried messing about in the materials room but have had no luck there (not even sure I'm in the right place nor do i fully understand that room).

I'm guessing Carrara has spoilt me with the shaders they have for the teeth, that and i also understand now why most poser renders i see all the models have their mouths shut :p.

If anyone could help me out i would be great full.

Thanks

I thought the teeth came out fine on my warcow...

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

might be i need another light but there are a few in the scene, one or two are in front of her face, maybe i need to do some more tweaking

As I recall if you plug the teeth map in to the alt specular in the material room and make sure it is set to white it will give you that toothpast white gleem. but their are others who can probably explain it better, I have also done the same with eye whites so that it draws more attention to the eyes.

In reality, teeth are not absolutely white.  It is unnatural and will appear fake in your renders.  Off-white would be the accepted standard.  There was another post about teeth shaders recently upped.  Follow the link:

Thanks hborre - yes i know pure white would look silly but then again so does dark grey, i got around the image i was doing with a layer in photoshop.

Will have to read that link when i feel better, have a bug that's going around atm and i think its really starting to kick in :/

Get well.  This is absolutely a bad time to get sick.
