Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 05 6:41 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: Identify current folder displyed in the library

Hi all,

has anyone found a way to identify what folder is open in the library, and I suppose does Poser 8 make that obsolete anyway. ?

Ockham made something to find what runtime was opened. I then edited the script to get the currently opened folder (but there is no way to know what 'library' you have now open - pose, character, ....)

For Poser 8, there is also a solution, but is not 100% working... If you have access to the RDNA newsletter from september, I made a newsletter freebie which contains the Poser 8's opened folder. I cannot post it now, as I don't have access to the computer where all my stuff are, but as soon as I can, I'll post the two samples.

cool, thanks
I am writing myself a loader script for stuff like shadowdancer clothing where you have figures to load for boots, pants, shirt, leggings, etc etc . If I can find the open folder I can just load it without prompting for a folder location.

Oh, then you want the multi-loading script. I have it (it's the newsletter freebies) and it will also conform and magnets the clothes automatically to the selected figure.

Here is my multi-conform script for Poser 8.

I'll have to dig through my harddrives to find the 'old' multi-conform script for the previous version of Poser...
