Subject: Poser Pro with Vista64 - Help, I lost my animation window.

I was working on 2 monitors and the animation palate was on the SECOND monitor.  Then I switched to a single monitor and clicked "launch to factory settings" to get everything back to a single screen.  I restarted Poser and everything's fine except the animation palate is still GONE .  I know there is a Poser preference file somewhere that I can delete, but I don't know Vista very well.  Anyone know where that file is or another way to resolve this?  (I suppose I could always get back the second monitor, but that would be a royal pain. =)

Bonus question - I don't know if it's Poser Pro or Vista, but when i'm in the MATERIAL ROOM and I select a new figure, there is an excruciating pause as the comp searches for the textures to load up.  Seriously, it's like a 30 second pause!  This never happened using Poser 7 under XP.  Loading textures in the material room was always instant.  What gives?

If your UAC is on and you do not have exclusive admin rights while PP is installed in the Program Files in Vista, you will experience problems.  Best recommendation under Vista, install PP in it's own folder on your HD.  There should be no interference with that setup.

Your second problem, sounds like your monitor configuration is still set up for 2 monitors.  Double-check the display properties and make your correction there.

I have no idea what your talking about, UAC?  What is that?  Why wouldn't have have exclusive admin rights to my own computer?  If I reinstall poser to it's own folder, do I then also put all my runtimes in that folder?  Please be gentle with me, I am not technically adept at all and vista is brand new to me.

As for the monitor question, my mouse clearly stops at the edge of the single monitor.  Does that mean it's set up right?  or does that mean nothing?

UAC is a built-in Vista control which does not allow changes occur within you Program Files Folder, a protective measure to prevent trojan viruses from attacking core applications.  If Poser is installed into Program Files Folder, and UAC is active, any access to your runtime is interfered with.  There are numerous threads addressing this very problem posted here within the forum.  Unfortunately, I don't use Vista, so I can't guide you through the correct steps.

If you install Poser in it's own separate folder, you bypass the security issues.  The best recommendation populating your runtime is to create external runtimes folders for your content.  This means that those runtimes exist outside the main Poser folder and can be imported into the application.  You can better organize your content and separate them into distinct categories.

The monitor issue, if your mouse stops at the edge of your single existing monitor, all is fine.  I suggest check View in Poser to ascertain if the animation control is checked on.
