Epic Games has released the Unreal Development Kit for free. Anyone aspiring to be a modeler for a game company may want to check this out, as it provides all the tools you'd use to create an Unreal 3 Engine game and would allow you to show your models in a relevant way.   In related news, Gnomon Workshop has an upcoming DVD on working with the Unreal Engine to make environments/characters and scenes for your game.

So have a look at the UDK - I picked it up yesterday, as I have been dying to do some game res stuff and this would be a good time to give it a try. It'll be nice to have in my next demo reel a few models rendered in the Unreal Engine!

It seems wonderful. A bit overwhelming at first, but it does hint at greatness.
Don't forget Unity3d indie is now also free.

still hooked to real life and enjoying the siesta!

Read over the licensing on this. Looks like they have taken aim at the corner of the indie game market that has typically been the hallmark of Torque. Nice.  :)
