I also rename everything before I put it into my runtime. And I have only one runtime because it's organized.
You should not change anything in the Geometries, Textures and !DAZ folder.
Some morphs (but not very much) in the Pose folder have paths to Morph folders which have the name of the vendors. I put them all in one Morph file, but this was some work, because I had to change the scripts for it - don't do it if you don't know how. (The same goes for Poser's figures as James and Jessi et al who often have the obj and pmd files in their character folders.)
Now to the best way to organize your runtime, get rid of all the vendor's names that appear under 'Camera', 'Characters', 'Hand', 'Face', 'Hair', 'Light' 'Materials', 'Pose' and 'Props', because no one will find anything in a runtime that is bloating Gigabytes. For these main Poser folders use submenues as 'Humans', 'Vehicles', 'Hair', 'Clothes', 'Animals', 'Nature', 'Sets' and 'Misc'.
Under 'Humans' in 'Character' you create submenues for the figures you have 'V4', 'M4' etc.
Under submenue 'Clothes' in 'Characters' you have again the folders for 'V4' and 'M4'.
Think about giving the clothes a name that descibes the item best. If it's working boots for M4 it should be named 'Boots Working', because if you look for shoes or boots for someone you're rather looking for B or S not the style of those boots (working boots, army boots) - logical.
Under submenue 'Hair' in 'Pose' you have again the subfolders for 'V4' and 'M4'. If more figures than one can use the hair create empty folders for the others folders with the name of the hair, for example if it's 'Short Hair' for M4 and V4 put it into M4's folder in 'Pose'->'Hair'->'M4'-'Short Hair' and create an empty folder at V4 'Short Hair-see M4'.
Under submenue 'Clothes' in 'Pose' you have again the subfolders for 'V4' and 'M4' and there under 'M4' you find the textures for the aforementioned shoes under 'Boots Working'.
Because 'Pose' is mostly Poser's largest folder I also added submenue for 'Morphs', 'Skin' and 'Movements' - these have again subfolders for 'V4' and 'M4' etc .
It's a lot of work to rename and restructure it. I started with it only a few months after I discovered Poser and spent far too much time to find what I wanted in a scene. Because of that I decided to find a structure. I found a good example for it either in this or in the DAZ forum. Now it's the easiest to find something, I don't need the library search. Character in a scene, get the clothes, find the set, look for lights and camera if available for those sets.

This is a rather simple issue, but one that has deviled me for a long time. I am hoping there are some simple solutions I've overlooked.
Many add-on texture sets for clothing items are named with no regard to the original item to which they apply. This is doubtless a marketing choice by the vendor, creating a catchy name to help sell their product. Before long, the poses are lost in a long runtime of clothing and it takes much hunting and searching to find a desired texture set to apply to a specific item.
Would it not make sense for the vendor to hyphenate the name so that searches would be simplified? Example: Let's say there's a dress called "Hotstuffmamadress". If a vendor makes textures to apply to this dress (and any accompanying items), and wants to call the fabulous new textures "Warm Tones for Hotstuffmamdress", why not name the folder for the textures "Hotstuffmamadress - Warm Tones". If I want to find textures for Hotstuffmamadress I know that name and could find the pose files immediately under the original item's name, but will have to search the entire alphabet for "Warm Tones", looking at each one to try to recognize it.
Assuming this has been suggested to vendors before, and there is some valid reason that they don't follow this convention, does anyone have a tool or work-around they favor to make such searches simpler?
