Hello I ordered myself a space explorer 3d Mouse the other day & I wanted to find out if anyone is using any of 3d connexions products in Vue and how they perform?

I have seen how usefull it is in c4d (main reason for purchasing).

Hello!

I am using the 3D Connexion Space navigator with Vue 8 Infinite and find that it works very well. Makes navigating large scenes much easier.

I used it in Vue 7 infinite before I updated. No problems. It worked just as well. Just make sure you download the latest software/driver from 3Dconnexion.

Hello I got the Space Explorer, awesome bit of kit !! works straight away in cinema 4d , however unable to download drivers from website so used ones on disk.... cannot find any way to use it in vue... do I need to switch it on via a setting?

Hi !

Ok, I am on Windows 7 64 bit (and previously XP 32bit). On XP I needed to start the driver manually before starting Vue (via the 3dConnexion control panel), under Window 7 it start as soon as I plug in the device. Once the device is on (mine is a Space navigator) I can start Vue and the camera  controls are now linked to the SpaceNavigator).

I seem to remember that Vue support was added later and not included in the drivers that came with my SpaceNavigator. Maybe that is the problem for you, too?

I got the latest driver here: http://www.3dconnexion.com/service/drivers.html
Is that what you tried?

TD

Just checked: I can download the driver package from the website. Latest version for Windows is 3.8.2 with a release date of  2009/11/19. The file size is 118 Mb for some reason...

Thanks TD for your help, eventually I managed to get on the site downloaded the drivers and everything is working great it automatically installed drivers for Vue, Poser and C4D.

I only found out 3d mice existed the other week... I cannot belive how much easier everything has just got ... being able to control camera with left hand and model with the right, with far greater accuracy!

Loving being able to produce a sweeping camera move rather than what I was able to produce with the mouse.

Amazon had the Navigator on sale for £44 the other week and now it is £100 so I paid an extra £40 and got the space explorer (which I don't regret at all but would have been happy with Navigator).

This is by far the most helpfull thing I have bought to assist with 3d modeling/scene creation apart from my processor. I expect many of you do have one, but for those who don't this is an invaluable tool that I can't recommend enough.

Yup, I agree. This kind if 3D controller is a very useful addition for a 3D app like Vue (also works well in Poser and DAZ Studio).

Happy navigating!

Hey **thd777 3d mouse is still going great just having a little trouble configuring for Vue, cannot use up or down when I pull in or out?! Only just discovered this, however it does seem to work on other windows apart from main view...eg side view. Not a big problem it is still a lot easier than it was before, but would be nice if I could use the up down also.

Do you use any particular settings?

Poser and Cinema 4d seem to work great with no adjustments needed.
