Got an e-mail that a certain product is FREE.

Checking the page on the item AND the page where the notification of the item is and  I don't see where a MINIMUM ACTUAL PURCHASE is NECESSARY.
But the SHOPPING CART system here says" Hey bud! You ain't got at least $5.00 in the cart to get the FREE item!"

Is this the policy or is there an error here?

Oh and to the vendor, if this really IS FREE, then thank you!

 I'm going to move this to the customer support forum, so you have a better chance at getting an answer.

Whoa....how sneaky.  I've just wasted the past 20 minutes trying to 'purchase' this item - even tried different browsers, because I thought it must have been some kind of problem with just me.  Then I thought the ''you must enter $5.00 minimum" msg. must have been some kind of coding error, so I came here to report it.   What a poorly worded promo page.....it does say it's FREE.  Doesn't say anything about needing to spend at least $5.00 on another product first.  I first learnt of that just now when I opened this thread to read.  I never got an email about this btw, I only heard about it when I saw a message in another forum on another website about this being 'free'.  Look, I wouldn't have minded spending the $5.00 on something else first, but that requirement should have been made crystal clear on the purchase page itself.  Hmmmm.......

It is not Renderosity's fault that you got the information elsewhere, and the person who told you about it didn't mention the $5 minimum.  While we understand that it is disappointing, we cannot control information outside our site, and have taken steps to insure that people are aware that a $5 minimum purchase is required.  I apologize, however, again, there is nothing we can do about information not gleaned through the proper channels.

Look, that's totally cool JenX - no harm, no foul as far as I'm concerned. :)  However, what I was  pointing out is that it would have probably been better if the 'spend $5.00 min.' requirement appeared somewhere on the actual product page itself .  It's all very well to say that it's on the calendar (or other parts of the site, or in emails sent out etc.) but not everyone would have necessarily heard about the promotion that way (I guess I'm a case in point as I came in through the 'side entrance' so to speak).  But look, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it - more important things to think about this time of the year, which reminds me,  Merry Xmas to you and everyone else here. :-)

NOT JUST on the product page but in the e-mail.

At least when DAZ got some flack they did the * asterisk thing with the e-mail offerings, so you knew there was some fine print elsewhere.

I went from the e-mail to the product (direct product link in the e-mail) to the cart.
No bouncing to the INTERMEDIATE page where the "Minimum $5.00 purchase" is ahem mentioned.

Fix the e-mails OR do not put direct product links (where the $5.00 min purchase is NOT mentioned) where the product in question can go directly into the cart (no $5.00 mi purchase mentioned until checkout) or something less "cheesy"!

Please.
