Subject: Problem loading scene

Jcleaver ( ) posted Fri, 05 February 2010 at 10:02 PM · edited Mon, 11 November 2024 at 3:56 PM

I bought a tutorial DVD, and I was trying to load in a sample scene.  In the process of opening, it stops and asks me to locate a particular copy-protected item.  It tells me that If I ignore it, a dummy item will be placed.  Since I apparently don't have this particular item (really I do, it just has a space in a different place), I chose ignore.  Then Vue tells me it can't load the scene and just opens a blank scene.

I have Vue 8 Infinite, and this happens with a couple of the scenes.

Is there a work-around?  Is this now normal?

I think you should contact the creator of the tutorial and ask for advise. It is not normal that in a tutorial example file there are protected items used that people have to have. Is there maybe a readme in the package that explains this?

If you choose Ignore, it's normal Vue opens a blank scene, you should accept to replace the copy protected object with a dummy object, then Vue would open the scene. If you have the original object in your collections, then just click on Locate item, Vue will open a standard browser where you can search for the object on your machine, wherever it is located.

I've had to select a different cloud mat to make things happy with Vue and other's scenes sometimes.

The dialog box tells me if I choose ignore, it will replace it with a dummy object.  The only choices I have are, Locate, Purchase, Ignore, Ignore all.  I never get anything to accept a dummy object.  I have browsed to the object in the plants, and it comes back and tells me that it doesn't correspond with the required object; although the names are exactly the same.

Oh, sorry, I answered from memory and memory failed me. Can't test it because I don't have s scene with any object I don't own. But if Ignore loads a blank scene instaed of the scene with a dummy object, then there must be a bug somewhere. What object is it btw? I know I have 2 trees named the same, the Horse Chestnut. One is an "official "e-on plant, the other one is by Martin Frost. And they have the same name. Maybe it's the case with your object?

The tree in question is Alder late Spring.  I have another scene from the tutorials that do the same thing; and ironically that tree is Alder Late Autumn.

I have let the creators of the tutorial know; and they are checking into it.

Thanks.

John
