Yes, the image you used is retained within the bryce.mat file - in fact people can copy that image from the texture source editor - this copies the image to the clipboard,
Pasting that to an image editor, like PaintShop Pro will then get back the original image.

Thanks very much everyone for the replies. I suspected it did retain the image in the .mat file but wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks Fran, I didn't know that was possible:)*
And all .mat files remain with the .obp as well.
That's how I was able to recover the textures, - they were saved on the bryce .obp, in the presets, and I'd saved the presets in a different place.
It's a bit laborious searching amongst the obp's for textures, but I saved a few that way.

Hi
I'm trying to work out if when you create an image based texture (i.e. loading an image into the picture editor, then adjusting settings in the materials lab and saving it as a Bryce texture in the materials library) as a Bryce .mat file, Bryce permanently stores that image in the .mat file. So for example, if I then give away/sell that material, would I need to give the recipients the .jpeg image I used to create the texture as well as the .mat file, or is it all contained within the mat file?
Does that make sense lol?
Also, what would be the best kind of size for the .jpeg image to be used in that way?
