Has happened to me a couple of times (I use that function a lot).
A “Reset all tools” fixed it one time, but the next time I had to reset/trash all the preference files.
The preference files are notorious for getting corrupt after time, and causes PS to misbehave.
The easy way of doing a reset is to hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac) immediately after (or while) launching Photoshop.
A prompt will ask if you want to delete the preferences file. Click Yes.
Hope that does it for you,
Chuck
Thanks SWAMP. That did the trick. It occured to me, but I didn't want to reset all of the tools. I reset just the brush from it's preferrence panel and restarted and VIOLA, it is working again. Thanks again!

I'm not sure how best to explain this, but all of a sudden I am not able to use shift to connect point A to point B. ie.: when I want to make a straight line with the paint brush, I'd click on one spot, move to the next, hold down the shift key and click on the new spot. Photoshop used to make a like connecting the two points. Now it only makes two points.
I must have changed a setting that I'm unaware of. Any thoughts?
