I'd never use a merchant resource skin as the basis for a texture. When I make a human skin I use the pics from 3D.sk
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
I just finished my first skin texture for a figure ever, in 8 years of posering! Sarsa's Alpha II for V4 was a GIGANTIC help in making this possible.
Two things that are a must with merchant resources, they need to include a seamless piece of skin texture and reflectionless eyes.

...and when the day is dawning...I have to say goodbye...a last look back into...your broken eyes.
SamTherapy - Thx for the referral to 3D.SK - never saw the site before and it was quite an experience.
Artemis: Ty. You weren't interested, by any chance, in sharing the names of those you use?
Cyberscape - Ty. will take a look at that. Is it fair to assume that a seamless piece of skin and reflectonless eyes are a part of the Alpha II package?
The reference to reflectionless eyes reminds me that textures are about texture and not shading. One of the horrifying things to discover about the package I had purchased was that shading and highlights had been added to the base tex. I mean, this thing was rookie all the way...
If it was not that long ago ..and you can proof that the set is not useble you might want to ask money back..
Sure they where ever you got it understand that color shifts in skin wont work..
So i say contact sale@site and ask them how and what..

Help! I purchased a merchant resource body texture not long ago (name of product, artist, and distributor to remain anonymous). The body tex had horrible color shifts from top to bottom, and color banding in some areas - much of which I consider not fixable as my time is worth something and because I didn't purchase a time-saving product so I could spend a hundred hours fixing the time-saver.
The kind of unrepairable color shift that I am talking about is a shift from a skin shade that has a green-based red in the same texture as a different skin area using a blue-based red. Some Photoshop whiz might be able to filter them into something that makes sense but, for most of us, the green-blue conflict is going to create nightmares...in large part, because these are blended areas that would have to be isolated to treat...and everything would have to be re-mixed and...ya da ya da ya da ya da. So why bother in the first place?
The problem, of course, extends from the fact that these "merchant resources" are, themselves, rendered with lights and shading that can throw off the innate color qualities of the tex ... and there's no way for the customer to see the product in advance of purchase.
Soooo...without getting argumentative (which is why I will not name the guilty product I previously purchased), could those of you who have used V4 body and face tex merchant resources, and not simply those who are selling them or who know of them, recommend their favorite(s) along with a brief note as to why they are favorites.
Please no dissing. And thx for your input...
