Subject: Poser Pro 2010 release on the horizon...

peterpan,

You said you removed AVG and still the bugs remain. Which bugs? Regarding AV, we were talking about being unable to use the Queue Manager.

The UI problems you're talking about have nothing to do with AV - they are usually because you need to update your video driver. Are you using hardware preview rendering (OpenGL) or SreeD? If not SreeD, try switching to SreeD.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Quote - ah Norton. there's your problem right there.
anything is better than Norton. personally I'd recommend Avast!, Kaspersky or AVG.

Funny how all the reviews the last couple of years all over the net say the opposite and rate Norton as number one. I used to hate using Norton but since they have re-built it it runs very fast and does not cause any propblems with any of my other software.

So again it's the different combinations of user, machine and software that cause problems for one and not another.

heh.

I've removed 5 installs of Norton (uptodate) in the last six months. each time the machine sped up hugely once norton was removed. (one laptop took 3 minutes to boot under Norton. 30 seconds under Comodo/Avast!)

from my personal experience I cannot in good faith recommend norton to anyone.

Ah well, I don't have everything turned on. There are a lot of needless things running if you don't customize it. So I can see the speed up your talking about. I get quick start ups on this old single core and does not interfere with the software on it.

I also don't have any AV or firewall on my main PC's. They don't get connected to the net. The advantage having more than one PC.

i never used the option Render in Background.

where should i use this? is it faster then if i render it normal?

Using Render in Background lets you play around with the scene whilst the render is being done, as opposed to having to wait for a render to finish before you can adjust something.

Broken Record... I encourage anyone with issues to contact Support.... Normally Security Software Conflicts can be resolved with Settings in the AV Program. What some have said here about this or that AV program should have no specific affect on Poser or Poser Pro, but may be harder to tweak...

Back to the Thread.... There are several tests you can do to isolate the cause, but sometimes issues have nothing to do with conflicts, but settings within Poser or your System to meet the needs of your Scene and System so everything works better.

The part about installing content into the Program Files Folder is true. The best location is the Shared Folder, especially if you want to use Network Rendering.

One Trick I use to Render on the Network is I use the Collected Scene Data Script to place all the needed files of the Scene in a Folder in the Shared Folder and Render to the Queue from there. This way I know everything needed is in the Shared Folder and the other nodes on the Network can access them.
