Subject: Rigging problem....again...2 Rigs in One??

DarksealStudios ( ) posted Thu, 04 March 2010 at 7:11 PM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 7:22 AM

Hey everyone, It's me again with another fun issue rigging in poser 8! Yay!!

Here's the problem...

Im rigging a character with Toes named lToea1, lToea2...lToeb1, lToeb2....lToec1, lToec2....and the same for d, and mirrored for the right, rToe...etc....

My issue comes in here, rToea2 and rToeb2 always create themselves A NEW FIGURE setup. I always get the error message that there are parts without bones when there is none, and those 2 toe segments make a whole new figure setup on their own. Now at first I thought I had an issue with the geometry file. So I opened them back up in maya, made sure everyones internal names were correct, ie. no missing caps, no typos.... I made sure there were no extra groups, no NOTHING, just as clean as can be....

I've replaced the geometry file with itself. I have rigged the figure twice (once, and then again after triple checking the obj) just to be sure everything was clean. Obviously I have missed something cause it's still not right.

Can anyone offer any insight on what to check for? Again, it is creating a whole seperate figure it seames from me making one rig. Everything is parented to the hip!!

I'll post a pic soon.

LOL don't you just hate when that happens? Reminds me of when Maxwell Smart used to hold his index finger and thumb an inch apart and say, "Missed it by that much" LOL

At least I found the issue... If I hadn't have made 3 screen shots of everything, I wouldn't have found it. I guess the posting did help!!

Don't feel bad- I just spent 3 hours trying to figure out why the item I was rendering had a white glow around it - after hours of messing with material settings, I realized that the template I had painted had seams :

I feel your pain.

Ever stop to think, and forget to start again?
