Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 21 1:30 pm)
Pro may be different, but in Poser Amateur the only place those cams could
be stored is in PreferredState.pz3. Sometimes they do get left over from
improperly built light sets. (When people build a LT2 by copying and pasting,
the Shadow Cams will often be mismatched with the lights, and deleting
the lights leaves the cams behind.)
Try deleting PreferredState and see if that helps.

In my experience, Poser (through Poser Pro) created a new Shadow Cam for each light, but when the light was deleted the shadow cam remained. Different versions had different naming conventions. If you saved your work in PZ3's and developed scenes over several versions, you could get quite a few shadow cams in a scene. Sadly, the numbering convention of the shadow cams did not correlate to that of the lights, so it was very hard to figure out which shadow cams went with which lights.
Where this got to be a real problem, I saved out my lights to a light file, deleted all the lights, and saved the PZ3 file. Then I deleted the shadow cams from the PZ3 in an editor, opened the file in Poser, and added my lights back in. It took forever. I have not checked to see if these problems were resolved in Poser 8.

Magic - that did the trick; thanks very much. And thanks too for the explanation guys, I think the light set I use a lot must be generating these as I go along....!

When saving light sets to the library, isn't there options for saving which elements you want to save? Like a partial pose pose (if you know what I mean). Try loading your favorite light set and then saving it back to the library checking the elements you really do want to save. Might fix your favorite light set for future use.
This is just a loose suggestion. I'll have to look into this and see if I know at all what I'm talking about here.

Hey folks, a bit of a strange one here....for some time, my light presets in Poser Pro have been taking longer and longer to load. Today I had a look, by coincidence at the list of cameras in the scene, and there are literally hundreds of shadow cam lites, almost as if it's stored one for every light I've ever created. Does anyone know why this should be, and, more importantly, how to delete them? I'm running on Vista Ultimate, 8Gb, and re-installed Poser Pro only a couple of days ago - it seems the list of shadow cam lites may have been inherited from the previous install.
