Yes, they haven't even put out new kids or a baby yet.  But M4 doesn't have any stupid magnets. I would like to see V5 be the same, and also with more polys in the right places (particularly the middle lips).  I see nice things in the MP for V4 but I think well why bother. V4 isn't ideal really.

Victoria 5? :scared: Lord preserve us. I find V4 to be hard enough work as it is; I hate to imagine what hoops we'll have to jump through to use V5. The trouble is, as I see it, that successive generations of DAZ figures are loaded down with more technology designed to work around the limitations of Poser; and IMHO that technology gets in the way of producing pictures, which should be the primary aim after all.

No, what we want is for Antonia to be stabilised to the point where PhilC is willing to add Wardrobe Wizard support for her. Then we'll see some feathers flying. :)

Sorry, I ranted a bit. And I have had my coffee.

estherau ( ) posted Mon, 15 March 2010 at 6:04 AM

No, that is not true.  M4 came after V4 and he was simpler.  No magnetize poses required (ie no magnets) he works well.  V4 was a huge mistake in my opinion.

They're not even making the one figure to the other versions anymore where the head of the new one was on the old one's non-morphing body.  Sad.

You could use the female morphs in  M4 Enhanced from DAZ, but i don't knowhow well Vicky's clothes would fit.

There's always Antonia-she has no magnets...

In the middle of the process!  Have done the body, the hands, & the feet: but have taken a break to re-steady my nerves, as his mesh is such a nightmare (Way too many vertices for what he actually needs).

Esther, look at my Firelight series in my gallery, and see what can be done with my updated Posette.  Yes, she has her limitation, but so does every figure, one way or another.  If V4 were so bloody perfect (excuse my adjective please), you wouldn't have started this thread.  And you also admit that V3 has spaghetti arms.
A solution to your problem, since M4 has the exact same mesh as V4, is to load the V4 mesh into setup room, and then adapt the M4 rigging to it; and/or find some way to edit the magnet out of the V4 cr2 using a text editor.
Yours truly,

As far as I know, any magnet can be turned into a morph, by clicking on object/spawn morph target.  But that means that EVERY other morph and magnet has to be turned OFF  first.  Possibly you could save the magnets to a special props folder for applying to clothes when needed, and then turn to morphs.

But understand that V4 is NOT my figure of choice and I almost never use her, except to contrast how little difference there is between her and Posette when both are textured with the same texture: so I am NOT the expert her on V4's magnets.

Well, keep in mind that DS (Advanced only?) does figure mixing, so it's hardly necessary from their own proprietary standpoint.

Not sure how many people are actually using the feature tho. I don't use DS, myself.

I have a laundry list for V4. She doesn't have enough facial shaping morphs, not like V3 had. She's nearly cross eyed. Her shoulders are wonky. Her arms are too thin (although I've seen models on television with arms that thin).  The very visible rib cage on her torso sometimes drives me to distraction in certain poses. My big pet peeve is that her legs are out of proportion. Her thighs are too long in relation to her shins, and of course her toes are too long. These are things that DAZ could address in a new version, but I'm not sure that's on their menu for a while.  M4 has problems as well, but at least IMO his body is in better proportion than V4. I am being just nit picky that he doesn't have enough facial shaping morphs (both figures are sorely lacking) and he doesn't have an Adam's Apple morph. But at least his eyes are not as badly out of whack as V4's eyes.

I doubt gen 5 figures will work very well with Poser unless SM changes some things to read the same as DS.

Nope I would not hold my breath for DAZ figures anymore. Start looking for alternatives that are compatible with Poser or switch to DS.

That is what they say because they have to. Does not mean they will. DAZ is too invested into DS now that does things that Poser can't or differently.

V3 did have a much better face.  And she had nice tendons and muscle definition.  But there were some not good things about her bending, her chest posteriorly and her spaghetti arms.
V4 can smile with more of her face than V3 although I'm sure that could have been fixed with some nice morphs for V3.

The only things that would make buy a Victoria or Mike 5 at the moment, would be if the came with software that would allow you to create face morphs from front and side photographs (like facegen) like Poser "is supposed do" with it's native figures.
Soft body dynamics for animation would also be nice. This could be done with Python and magnets.
Better compatability in Poser is a must. DS3 doesn't like my computer without XP sr3, and my Internet Explorer doesn't like it with sr3, but never got the hang of DS anyway.

Personally, I like M4/V4 much better than M3/V3.  The face shapes can be a little frustrating at times - but DAZ is pretty good about supplying new morph packs.  I didn't care for the Mil 3 shoulders at all.  I would buy V5/M5 if/when they become available.  I think DAZ is certainly committed to developing their figures and making them user friendly.  I just wish that Smith Micro had developed their figures to a similar or higher level of realism.

Totally agree with the part about the native Poser figures, I only ever use them as background figures, and usually just the "pre-clothed" ones, because it saves me time. If you look at adverts or graphics used in tv programmes that have used Poser, they just use the basic figures with no modification.

How wonderful would an all-new morph pack be?  I'm talking about shaping morphs, not character morphs like G4, elite, aiko, etc.  Hell, some of those even have new shaping morphs you can't access unless you do some deep hacking in the cr2.

Daz is terrible at supplying new morphs packs.

I agree with disagreeing.  Even the ethnic pack was a disappointment .  RDNA has better morph packages and I personally don't create a V4 character without the V4UltraMorphs from RDNA.
