Subject: quicktime vr

Okay, I know this is a little off topic but what happened to quicktime vr?  I was trying to do a Vr today and found out that either apple or vue has discarded the vr option.  Anybody have any dirt on this subject and what program can I use to do a vr on the cheap?

Vue 8 Infinite crashes hard when I select QTVR (.mov) format to save as.  I have QT 7.4.5 installed for WinXP.

I can't even get the option to save as a .mov.
By the way this is happening on Vue 7 xtreme at work and Vue 6 Infinity at home with the latest quicktime pro on 64 bit machines.

I use a little tool called Go Cubic for Windows. http://www.panoguide.com/howto/display/gocubic.jsp

These are some I made a few years ago with it. Just take the snapshots in Vue and this tool will put them together. But no hot spots or anything like that.

Worked fine using Bryce 5.5 though.  What else in Vue is no longer working?

Quicktime VR Export is working here in Vue Infinite 8 on my Intel Mac.

I'll take a chance and update my QT and see if Vue can export a VR.

Still no go.  But at least Vue 8inf didn't crash entirely out so that I couldn't leave a bug report.

I'll try your way, Monsoon.  It seems that e-on wants us to start migrating to other apps.  It's odd how version x.0 of Vue works great (the paid for version).  Then the x.1 update has a bug.  The x.2 update has more bugs.  The x.4 version is a kludge (still a free download).  Then wa-la, Vue x.5 is working just fine (the paid for version).  But then x.6 has a bug.  x.7 has more bugs....  Then back to another x.0 version that works great again (paid for again, too).

I see the pattern e-on uses.  This time, I'm not falling for it again.  I'll stick with 8.0.  It works.  No crashes ever (except for the QTVR that e-on forgot about).  I used QTRV 10 years ago.  Maybe I forgot about it, too.  Could be that QTVR doesn't work on Windows anymore for free.

That GoCubic is neat.  Thanks, Monsoon!

Just have to turn off auto-exposure on the camera next time.

Just got a reply from e-on's bug reporter asking pretty much, "who are you and why are you bugging us without being a subscriber?"  What's worse?  Being a loyal DAZ customer and getting ignored by the company, or being a loyal e-on customer and being told to go away?

I had a problem with modo once and got $200 off without asking.  Hexagon was $1.99 at one point, but it had way more problems.
