Subject: Carrara 7pro isn't loading with writing

ominousplay ( ) posted Wed, 21 April 2010 at 11:53 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 5:20 AM

I don't know what is going on, but I can't get Carrara7Pro to load with language.  The application loaded on my new puter, but without words or numbers, just graphics.
I bought a new iMac with 10.6.2.  Maybe it isn't an intel version of Carrara.  I don't know how to tell.

I don't see how to reset my download for Carrara on the Daz site...

Never Give Up!

Okay, I figured out how to reset my downloads at Daz.  I'll download it again and try to load it.

Go to your home folder Library/Preferences/DAZ 3D/Carrara 7/Preferences.txt

Open the file Preferences.txt search for:
FONT ""

replace it with

FONT "Times"

Thank you Kuladen, that did it.
Any suggestions for changing French to English?
I don't know what I loaded, but this didn't happen on my other installs ; )

I see Lang... but the number code must refer to French.  I think it is in the Prefs, but it would help if I could read French.
Any help appreciated.

Sorry, I figured it out.  And found the Daz thread that addressed this issue.
I'm sure I'll run into many like this as I load us the new computer.
I'm not complaining : )

Glad that cleared up the test problem for you

ominousplay ( ) posted Thu, 22 April 2010 at 1:22 PM

It did - this is the problem with getting a new computer.  Yes, I love it, don't get me wrong.  But the work in setting it up - ugh!
I need to take a day off work ; )

I know what you mean.  I just got my iMac in February, and I'm still getting used to it and finding replacements for the Windows apps I used to use.  But I am loving everything about this system.

Well, I'm off and running with the new iMac - and it is everything I wanted in a new computer.  But boy do I have work to do.  It won't load my VISE installs - it wants to run Rosetta, and then just hangs trying to load Rosetta, so I cancel out.  Does Rosetta even run on these macs?

I could use another computer - get all my runtimes set up and import them to this one, but I would like to start fresh.

OKAY,  I figured it out.  Yes, Rosetta is running and I'm loading up the new computer.
Let's get organized!

another with salmon and the Daz seal.  No water yet, very simple.  Looking for aggressive shapes and movement - not very aggressive yet either.

This is an older one with a seal I modeled, same salmon.  I do like the Daz seal, but it doesn't look like a harbour seal.

Does anyone know if Rosetta running on an iMac with multiple processors will use more than one?  I am load a lot of older software that runs on Rosetta, and wonder if they are getting the benefit of the for processors and hyperthreading.

I think Rosetta is using just one processores. As a Mac user, I don't use Rosetta that much, except for old verson od DAZ products installers.!
Also, I didn't expreienced all those problems you had with my Masc - I just got troubles with PC and Vista, but now I moved to 7 and got no writing displayed in the window  just once.
It depends on experiences, mine tells that  OS X is better in terms of performances for carrara ;°
