I loaded the Michael 4 blank figure into a scene, lined up the socks as best I could to the shins and then went into the Setup room. Again I loaded the Michael 4 Blank figure, this time into the setup room. I selected the sock (I'm doing them one at a time to simplify things I thought) then clicked on the auto group button. Sure enough the sock grouped perfectly to the shin. No facets of the sock grouped to anything other than the shin I was working on. So far so good.

Now I exit the Setup room and behold...when I try to conform the socks to the shin this is what I get!  :(

Import the M4 OBJ file with none of the import boxes selected, then do the same for the socks OBJ which if you have saved the new Socks figure will be in the same folder as its CR2 file.

Do they perfectly line up? If they do not you'll need to address that now.

If they do line up select the socks and turn off the IK chains.
Open the joint parameter window and zero the figure.
Select the socks hip and zero the translations. They may already be zero but best to check because the zero figure button will only zero the rotations.
Select the socks BODY and check that all translations are zero.

The socks should now fit the figure.

Next, go to Edit > Memorize > Figure. This will lock this zero state into the socks figure file. Save the socks back to the library.

If you miss this last step you'll be back to square one the next time you load the socks.
