Subject: Multitude of Vue libraries driving me nuts

Mari-Anne ( ) posted Sat, 01 May 2010 at 2:53 PM · edited Wed, 18 October 2023 at 5:22 PM

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Vue libraries - au contraire, I love them -  but the numbers of them and duplication of files IS driving me nuts.  Would there be anything wrong in simply combining them all into one?  I have a total of four:  Vue 7 Inf., Vue 7.5 Inf., Vue 8 Inf. and Vue 8.5 Inf.

I realize that some of the older stuff may have to be upgraded although I think I actually upgraded all my old stuff when I got Vue 8 Inf.    I am thinking about putting all the older files somewhere other than in the Mari-AnneDocumentse-on software folder structure (just for storage) and then copy them into the Mari-AnneDocumentse-onsoftwareVue 8.5 Infinite folder.  That way, my thinking is that if I don't let  the newer be replaced with the older, only the ones that I don't already have in the 8.5 folder will be copied.

What are the rest of you doing with your libraries?  Do you see any danger in doing what I am proposing?  The way I have it now, I simply cannot remember where I have what and am forever going searching in all four libraries.

I since Vue 4 have ONE library with my own structure. I have to link that into the Vue version I want it in manually but that is no big deal. I use several different Vue versions quite often and never had any problem with this one and only Vue collection structure. I - just as a sort of respect - leave the default stuff untouched and put all my personal - self made and purchased/collected in my own structure.

That really does make sense, Wabe - sort of one main "generic" and then one individual library which shipped for each version.  That sort of logical and orderly structure appeals to me.

In  the library with your own structure, do you have just your own stuff there or is it a combination of personally created stuff along side stuff you've bought and/or downloaded?

Anyone have a different  idea?

My method is to sort things by creators more or less. And/or the shop I got the stuff from. And in there normally by theme.
