Maybe a little pricey, but it looks good in renders..!!!It's funny what we consider "pricey" in Poser land. That's beautiful work and I'm guessing the set took at least 100 hours to build and texture. At least.
It's a pretty odd item. I'd take a guess that maybe it's been purchased 30 times.
30 * $11.90 is $357 total revenue. RDNA takes 30%, so the vendor made about $250. His/her time was repaid at a rate of $2.50 per hour.
Wow, that looks cheap to me!
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
$11.50 is pricey?
shakes head muttering that's so cheap you would not believe it.
lets say that BB's estimate of 100 hours build time is right. so, minimum wage here is $10.50 and hour....
so, at minimum wage, it cost $1050 to make that... but your being charged less than 1 hours work.
yeah. it's pricey alright.
The sad thing is that $11.50 IS considered "pricey" for a single prop. At that price I'd expect at least a photographer's costume (from the same era) as well as a set of poses for both the photographer AND the people being photographed to go with it ;)
Well no I wouldn't.. but at the same time, if I was to make something similar, I would probably include at least the photographer's poses if I was to charge the "outrageous" sum of $11.50 for it.
And it's not because I don't think my stuff is worth it... it's a question of what Poser users WILL pay... I know I very rarely buy anything that costs more than $12. Anything beyond that is deemed "expensive" in my mind (no matter that it's about the price of a McD meal here...)
It's just how the Poser market works. Poser users are for the most people who are doing this as their hobby, unlike people who can afford a $100 basketball at Turbosquid and get a budget from their employer. And if you must be able to justify a purchase of "something that isn't really there" (sorry I tend to think of anything non-tangible in that term) it should be cheap enough to not have the spouse throw a fit because you've spent all the household money on ... virtual stuff...
Apart from that, it's a great looking camera and IMO well worth the price :)

It's pretty nice. Some materials need a bit of love. But it's good work.

Are you looking for a specific model or will a general camera of this type work?
Do you need this right away or can what you want to do wait a couple of weeks?
Asking because a vintage land camera is top of my freebie items to make list after my current model is completed but I can re-order since I'm just working on a personal project at the moment.
You can check my freestuff here on Renderosity to decide if the level of quality would be sufficient to your needs if you are interested.

There's no urgency on this one. I have an idea for an image but I tend to have lots of those. :o)
Thanks for the replies guys. The RDNA one looks like what I'm looking for. I'm not keen on shelling out cash and then having to retexture it myself though. So a freebie land camera would be of more interest.

I'd like this too to use in my Victorian Era Graphic Novel. Will it also include a Gun-Powder Flash?

Ok... Ok.. I humbly stand corrected... (bows head and tugs on forelock...)
I had already used this prop in some of My uploads into the gallery.

Well I'll be posting it as a freebie so I suppose you can use it.
I've found enough references last night to get started on the modeling and I even tracked down a few flash powder units. The earliest date on any of the flash pans I found was 1888 but I'm pretty sure people like Matthew Brady are depicted using them prior to that time.
(Note that flash powder was normally magnesium or aluminum oxide powder with an added oxidizer so is nasty stuff to use, prone to ignite nearby flammable materials up to and including the photographer....gunpowder would have been much safer but it doesn't provide the bright white light of the other two. I guessing that's why the trend toward natural light photography gained popularity?)

Yes, and that's why their studios had lots of windows and skylights. Also, the need for special stands to hold the heads and body's of the subjects in a rigid pose while the image was being established on the photographic plates.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic but the item includes not only poses for M3, M4 and V4 but also the tripod and carrying box with unexposed plates, chemicals and tools.
Seems very reasonable for the bundle.

But, of course, that won't work on a mac.

Well I WAS being sarcastic. And I also didn't check the item to see what went with it. I didn't mean to offend, quite the opposite. I think the price is fair for the beautiful model on its own. If there's even more things to go with it, then it's CERTAINLY cheap.

I'm looking for a prop again. What I need is an old style tripod mounted camera. Wooden box. Bellows front. Cloth for the photographer to stick his head under.
Anyone know where I can find one?
