Subject: Joint editor Problem in PoserPro 2010

-Timberwolf- ( ) posted Thu, 06 May 2010 at 10:55 AM · edited Fri, 19 July 2024 at 11:39 PM

Editing a figure's joints using those inner and outer spheres makes the attached bone root snap to the Universe's zero coordinate. This makes the joint editor and setup room allmost unusable.I am on win7, 64bit ,and have a wacom tablet installed.Checking on/off Tablet mode in the prefrencies-tab doesn't help.Any idea for a reason?

Someone else mentioned this problem some time back, I have been unable to reproduce it myself, so sorry but I dont know either.  But you might report it to SM and see if they have a solution.

A HOMELAND FOR POSER FINALLY

Two possible culprits:

  1. Does your account name contain non-ascii characters ?

  2. Does your system use a "," (comma) instead of an "." (full stop) as a numeric separator ?

Both will confuse Poser 8 and PP-2010 and cause the symptoms you described.

Poser 8 after SR2 will read commas as numeric separators just fine. Are you telling me that bug is re-introduced in PP2010? facepalm

Yep.

BTW, SM "claimed" that this was fixed with Poser 8 SR2, but it wasn't.

Poser 8 Sr1's Joint Editor worked fine if your system was set up to use commas as standard numeric separator.
(But you had to type full stops in Poser)

Poser 8 Sr2's Joint Editor is broken, just like PP 2010' is.
(But you now can use commas when typing values inside Poser)

I hope Poser 8 Sr3 and PP 2010 Sr1 will adress those problems.

Here you can see what it looks like . Good to know that it is not a "my case only" thing.Happenrd to often in the past that I had bugs that couldn't be reproduced.

Hm. Admittedly it's been a while since I used the Joint Editor, so that may have been in Poser 8 SR1... Now this is worrying. I can use Poser 7 if I must, but it seems stupid that they haven't fixed this yet. And it also seems stupid that they forget about most of Europe using a comma as decimal stop on EVERY new version of Poser..

Oh well, I certainly hope it'll be a feature in SR3 then.
