You probably didn't see this thread linked above. ;-) I wrote the following there:"Yes, ~ has a special meaning in Vista (don't know about 7) but try this: in the search box type exactly this: ~"~~*"
Hope that helps.
Strange - it worked fine at home, but at work where I really need to do this, it will not find any files. I have to run a scan every week that searches for virus. It takes longer if you have lots of files, which is why I want to delete all the ~~ files.
I have indexing on for the hard drive.

I use the Everything search engine download.cnet.com/Everything/3000-2379_4-10890746.html
It is very fast, it responds as you type, so after entering one ~ in the search box it lists 33,149 files on my system, then after I type a second ~ it narrows it down to 32,522. Appending .v cuts it down to 28,991 (I have many copies of my Vue libraries from many versions of Vue and their backups.)
OK - if I use the Search box on the Start menu it worked, sort of. It would only find files if I used ~"~~.vob, ~"~~.veg, or ~"*~~.atm, one at a time. Found 7,148 files. That should speed up my scans a bit!

Thanks MyCat - I will try this program too. Same here - I have Vue 6, through 8.5 all loaded up. Lots of duplication of those files.

Back in XP, it was very easy to search for _~~. files and locate all the Cornucopia advertisement files. Now in Windows 7, I can't seem to do this - I either get all the files in the folder or none are found.
