I love it Mark.
Do you happen to know which issue of 3dworld this will be in or is that a secret at the moment because I would love to read the article as you are one of my inspirations when it comes to carrara (and yes I am also using 7pro as finances say no regarding upgrading at the mo).
All the best

Hi Analog,
Well, there are actually two times: the "I know what I'm doing" productive work time (appx. 2 hrs) and the, "Hmmmm, I wonder how this would look" experimentation time. (appx 3 hrs.)
I did a no-no on this assignment and started modeling without sketching some ideas first. Not all of the experimentation time is eliminated by sketching but probably 90 minutes of modelling messing around would have been.

The light balance needs work and the dividing wall highlights are still a bit harsh. I'm not convinced I like the red.
Now this is what I'm talking about (to myself). A start from scratch Carrara modeling scene that proves Carrara really is a modeling powerhouse. It appears that most of this can be done in Carrara 5 Pro too--in the hands of an expert. Yep certainly going to buy that 3DWorld Magazine.
Thanks Mark, what a great WIP!---Jan
The CD that comes with the magazine is slated to have the start and and finished files along with all the specialty texture builds. Quite a few tricks in the file that I won't even go into in the article or video so dissecting the .car file might show you a few things. :D

3D World Magazine has asked me to show off a little of what Carrara can do. The assignment is due next week so I thought it would be fun to show the process of image development. (with 3D World's permission) So, it's definitely not done yet.
This will be a 6 page article in the magazine with a tutorial movie and all of the Carrara files available in the magazine when completed.
This first image is basic geometry development and composition blocking.
