Subject: Newbie question: Daz Kids Figures for Poser

musikman ( ) posted Thu, 24 June 2010 at 11:05 AM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 2:48 PM

Hi,

Still working on collecting figures to use for a kids birthday party animation project.

Daz support has been slow to answer my question, so I've posted it here in hopes for an accurate answer.

Does anyone know if "all" the Daz kids figures are compatible with PoserPro2010?  I've searched the Daz site and located some free kids figures, namely Matt & Maddie, Luke and Laura, Kids 4, Millennium Kids.  I'm just not sure if I download them whether or not they would work in Poser, or which specific ones would or would not work.  The descriptions for the products don't specifically say if they are figures that I might be able to add and use in my poser library.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

MM

All DAZ figures work in any version of Poser from at least P4 upwards.  If there are any features which rely on shaders then they won't work in earlier versions but that's about all.

Bear in mind, by "work", I mean, you can load, pose, render, morph (assuming the morphs are built in or you have the relevant packs), apply textures and so forth.  None of the DAZ figures work with the Face Room.

Anyhow, since they are free, why not just install them and try it for yourself?  They won't make your computer explode.

Ok, thanks for the reply SamTherapy, I'll give em' a try, but if my computer explodes you're going to have to help me fix it!  :-)

With the exception of some of the morph characters for the Kids 4, specifically the Toddler, all of the DAZ kids work just fine in Poser.

Lol, thanks but that won't be necessary!

So far I've installed millennium kids and added them to the library. They seem to work very well. Strange thing is though that all the content (ie...basic morphs, expressions, etc...) got placed in the "figures" category of the library, with the exception of the poses which seemed properly placed in the poses section of the library.  This is similar to what happened when I installed V3 & V4.

I'm using external runtimes on my external HD, and I'm pretty sure I setup the folders correctly ahead of time according to the instructions provided on the SmithMicro support site for installing Daz content into poser.  I assume this may well be exactly the way they're supposed to load in, as I'm fairly new to the procedure.  I have yet to purchase additional content, ie..morph++ , hair, and clothing, so I would imagine they would get installed automatically into the proper library categories, ie...props, materials, expressions, hair, etc...

Yep, they do.

Some people have been able to place the Morph packs into external Runtimes or sub folders within "Pose" but it's something which has never worked for me.  Consequently, the root of my Pose folder is used exclusively for morphs, with sub folders for poses and MAT pose settings.
