Hi All:)

How do you make dynamic clothing made for Poser work in Daz3?

One of my customers asked me this question but I don't use Daz3, so I don't have a clue.

Thanks for any help on this.

I am not sure it is possible. I know someone figured out how to use DAZ dynamic clothes in Poser but I haven't heard anything about the other way around.

The short answer: you can't.

Daz has locked the technology for their dynamic clothing. I'm not sure if you can pay to get it or not...but I'm sure it's pretty steep if you can ;o).

DAZ uses proprietary tech for dynamic clothing, developed by a third party called OptiTex.  Unfortunately, the tech only works with clothing made by OptiTex, and is not compatible with clothing made for Poser.  The plug-in was released last year, with a promise by DAZ to release additional functionality that will allow users to create their own clothes, but they never mentioned a release date.  A year later, still nothing.

Personally, I got tired of waiting, so I switched to Poser this week.  Frankly, I couldn't be happier.  :)

I also read that someone did figure out how to load DAZ dynamics into Poser, but the process they use doesn't work the other way around.

Wow, fifty bucks and you are limited to specific models provided by the plugin vendor?  That's some bullshit there!

Only OptiTex can make dynamic clothing for Daz that I know of. Seems kind of a silly arrangement to me. Not only can't you use what you make, you have to wait until OptiTex releases an article of clothing...which are few and far between.

Point gun, shoot foot ;o).

There is a way to get Poser dynamic clothes to work in Daz Studio, but not as dynamic clothes. You could make them conforming... then they would work.

Or, you could just go with a free copy of DS ... and then buy the Dynamic Clothing Control for $50.00 and and Dynamic Clothing by OptiTex bundle for $70.

Or, just get Poser 7 for $40 and have all the flexibility in the world, making your own dynamic clothing or buying dynamic clothing for a lot less on here.

Sounds like a fabulous deal for Optitex because they get every single sale for anyone who wants to do ANYTHING WHATSOEVER with dynamic clothing in D|S, but wow, shitty deal for everyone else (including DAZ).
ps no freebies possible, that's brilliant DAZ

There's 2 (count them, 2) pages of dynamic clothing at Daz. (20 items, of which one is a bundle of the existing items).

There's 159 items here in the marketplace... and that doesn't include freebies.

Says a lot, doesn't it?

Sounds like the sort of disaster that happens when business people  make decisions on technical matters. They should be locked in the office to play with with their pie charts, and not allowed to tamper with the real world!

To make things worse, dynamic clothes for poser are simple to make, you also has the tricks of making the skirt of conforming dresses dynamic, this is easy and work very well.

Here is a tutorial for getting dynamic clothes into Daz studio but it's for clothes you've already run through the simulator not clothes that can be simulated in Daz Studio.
