Increase the "height" of the cloud layer. For better defined shadows cast by the clouds, make sure your Sun light is using a softness of 0.0. Then slide your environment lighting closer to Sun light rather than ambient light.

It was mainly the shadow density setting that delivered the results, i was using the vue earth scene from the extras disk and it was set fairly low, also i enhance the detail by going into sky fog and haze tab and undr global settings selected volumetric sunlight so now i have my basis to form a decent planet how i like it.
just to add, the pic is just to demonstrate that i got it working lol i hope the finished work will be an order of magnitude better

I like the clouds popping up in the distance.

Hi vue-ers,
I want to make a vue planet for a scene and i have made a few planets etc, but what i cant seem to nail is getting depth to the clouds when looking to the edge of the planet.what i also want to see is the shadow cast onto the land/sea by the clouds too any one got any pointers?
